The state of Connecticut imposes several different taxes on its residents. These taxes are administered by the Department of Revenue Services and include individual and corporate income tax, sales and use tax, and various other taxes. The general state sales and use tax rate for Connecticut is 6%.

Individual income tax is reported on Form CT-1040 for residents or CT-1040 NR/PY for nonresidents or part year residents, with a due date of April 15. If the 15th falls on a weekend or holiday, taxpayers have until the next business day to mail the return. Tax rates range from 3% to 5%.

Corporations doing business in Connecticut file Form CT 1120, Corporation Business Tax. The Business Entity Tax Return, Form OP-424, is used for S corporations, partnerships, and LLCs.

Revenue is also generated for the state by imposing other taxes such as the room occupancy tax, admissions tax, cigarette tax, nursing home user fee, tourism surcharge, alcoholic beverage/distributor excise tax, and real estate conveyance tax.
