The state of Idaho generates income from various types of taxes on businesses and individuals, including sales and use tax, individual and corporate income tax, and various other taxes. These taxes are overseen by the State Tax Commission. The general state sales and use tax rate is 6%.

Idaho’s individual income tax rates range from 1.6% to 7.8%. Residents report their Income tax on Form 40, and part year or nonresidents use Form 43.. The returns are due by April 15, or the next business day if the 15th falls on a weekend or holiday.

Businesses use the following forms to report their income tax: Form 41 for corporations, Form 41S for S corporations, and Form 65 for partnerships. All returns are due April 15, or the fifteenth day of the fourth month after the close of the tax year.

Some of the other taxes imposed by the state of Idaho are property tax, withholding, tobacco tax, cigarette tax, beer tax, wine tax, and estate and transfer taxes.
