Kentucky’s Revenue Cabinet implements all of the taxes for the state. These taxes include sales and use taxes, individual and corporate income taxes, property taxes, and various other taxes.

The general state sales and use tax rate for Kentucky is 6%. There are no local sales and use taxes in Kentucky.

Individual income taxes are reported on Form 740 for residents, and Form 740 NP for non residents and part year residents. The return is due on April 15, or the next business day if the 15th falls on a holiday or weekend. The tax rates range from 2% to 6%.

Corporate income tax is reported on Form 720, or Form 720 S for S corporations. Multi-member LLCs use Form 765, and general partnerships use Form 765-GP.

Other Kentucky taxes are the property tax, tobacco tax, motor fuels tax, insurance premium tax, withholding, bank franchise tax, utility gross receipts license tax, telecommunications tax, and transient room tax.
